On Wednesday March 29, the Henrik-Steffens-Vorlesung is given by Toril Moi, a Norwegian scholar who has long been among the leading theorists of feminism and literature. Among her most important works is her famous, path-breaking biography of Simone de Beauvoir (published in Germany as Simone de Beauvoir: Die Psychographie einer Intellektuellen), and What is a Woman? Translated into the German is also her Sexus. Text. Herrschaft: Feministische Literaturtheorie. Her new book on Ibsen is called Henrik Ibsen and the Birth of Modernism: Art, Theater, Philosophy, and will be published by Oxford University Press in August 2006. Toril Moi is James B. Duke Professor of Literature and Romance Studies at Duke University.
