Calmus Waves is an interdisciplinary art project where choreography, music, and lighting are created in real-time with the help of artificial intelligence (AI).

During CalmusWaves performances, the dancers are connected through wireless OSC sensors to the composition program CalmusComposer and all musicians - who sight-read the music as graphical notation appearing simultaneously on iPads. This process allows the artists to control and modify the development of a real-time composition through their onstage performances.

Kjartan Ólafsson is an Icelandic musicologist, a notable composer, and an authority on AI in classical music composition

John Groves is a British composer, musician, producer, and a specialist in the use of sound and music in advertising and communication,

Gunnhildur Hauksdóttir: Skriða – a live performance featuring Borgar Magnason
Skriða is based on data from the Meteorological Office about the geological transformation that occurred in December 2020 when a landslide fell from the mountain above the town of Seydisfjordur. The rocks hang suspended in the air in satin ribbons, forming pendulums, surrounded by a recording of a composition based on Gunnhildur‘s drawings, played by Borgar Magnason's double bass player. Ribbons hanging from the ceiling elevate and sway rocks collected from the landslide. The pendulums rock to and fro around Magnason while he plays the double bass. The gesture of the instrument’s bow moves in parallel with the rock pendulums.

The exhibition focuses on artists and designers who push and defy the boundaries of art, technology, and science. When selecting works for this exhibition, an attempt was made to bring together different worlds, each of which opens a portal into a new dimension.
