Jesper Hertz Jazz is about storytelling. Each song has its inspiration in an experienced story, and the audience doesn’t miss it either. A very special guest pianist from Denmark, Jesper Hertz’s music is based on strong, singable and often easily recognizable melodic themes.
He plays with his trio at the Copenhagen and Aarhus Jazz Festivals every year but also worldwide. It is swinging, lyrical and image-creating, and to a great extent invites the audience inside – and then it ties a beautiful bow on the Nordic and American Jazz traditions.
Jesper Hertz is an award winning Danish jazz pianist and film composer. He has released 5 albums as a leader, and has been on the Top 10 list over most played artists on the National Danish Jazz Radio several times. His music is also featured in several Scandinavian films and he has played and toured with some of the most prominent names in Denmark.
Jesper Hertz’s music is always based on a strong melodic theme, and it has a very lyrical, sensible yet catchy and swinging character.
His latest album was recorded in Japan, where he also has been touring several times. »Shizuka« is written by Jesper Hertz and Minoru Yoshiki, and a late 2024 release tour played to packed venues. Jesper’s compositions are praised for hitting the soul of the Japanese people in the musical narratives he creates, based on experiences and impressions. The way the two musicians‘ music and expressions blend makes it hard to believe that this is a friendship and collaboration so many miles apart.
